Hello guys

I believe it would be quite interesting to find some nice and big LCD (at least 4 inches) to use in our projects. I gave it a try with LG Swift L7 P700 LCD and it appears (unfortunately) that is using MIPI-DSI interface. I have also Omnia II i8000 AMOLED LCD but so far I was unable to find any kind of schematic for that LCD (it has 50 pins).

They fact that LCDs from cellphones are quite cheap, and the ones "ready" for use with microcontrollers are pretty much expensive.

There's a project in progress hosted on the hackaday website that shows a lot of promise regarding DSI. I was going to try it myself but given the size of the task and the fact that this project is well under way I will wait to see the outcome.

I have thought of driving the larger 7"+ LVDS displays with an FPGA - probably an S6 - and some SDRAM. Replacement displays for the old Asus netbooks are cheaply available on ebay.
It's worse than that, it's physics Jim!

Thank you! I will definitely give it a try :)

I would love to see that!

Anyway, can you help me with locating schematic for Omnia II i8000 AMOLED LCD? I did find several service manuals of the phone but there was nothing about pins of the LCD.

Alright, from what I was able to find it's RGB parallel interface (8 pins per RGB color, VSYNC, HSYNC, CLK and few others). But I still can't find the exact pinout of this LCD.

Too bad, I'm afraid it won't be easy to use with this interface.
